Pirates of the Caribbean Sea: On Stranger Tide, an American 2011 film classified fantasy swashbuckler film, the fourth film to be released by Pirates of the Caribbean movies and a sole continuation of At World’s End of 2007. It is the first film not directed by Gore Verbinski in the series. Gore was replaced by Rob Marshall. Production was carried out again by Jerry Bruckheimer. The film’s plot was inspired by On Stranger Tides (1987) by Tim Powers.
Angelica (Penelope Cruz) joins Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) in his mission to uncover the Fountain of Youth, confronting Blackbeard (Ian McShane), the infamous pirate. Walt Disney Pictures undertook the film production and was released by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. This series “On Stranger Tides” was the first movie to come out in IMAX 3D and Disney Digital 3-D formats.
The principal shooting of the film took 106 days, starting June through o November 2010. Shooting locations included California, Puerto Rico, the United Kingdom, and Hawaii. Photography was done using 3D cameras like the one used in the 2009 Atar, and the visual effects employed ten companies. The film currently stands as the most expensive film ever made, with a $379 million production budget.
The film was on May 20, 2011, in the United States. On Stranger Tides became the third highest-grossing film of 2011, breaking several box office records. A sequel, Dead Men Tell No Tales, was unveiled in May 2017. This was the fifth film in this series.
